Yeh! Let's hear it for lesbian Neil fans! Did you read:

Ranking the best of a musical pioneer
HOWARD POUSNER
26 February 2006, The Atlanta Journal - Constitution

When Neil Young was honored with an American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Founders Award in Los Angeles last spring, the Indigo Girls added to the tribute by performing Young's "Down by the River."

With the Jonathan Demme-directed concert movie "Neil Young: Heart of Gold" having opened in Atlanta this weekend, we asked Amy Ray of the Indigos, among various Georgia-connected musicians, to name her favorite Young tunes:

"Campaigner" (from the 1977 compilation "Decade"): "This song is always relevant and timeless. I love the way Mr. Young uses political and sociological images to talk about love and growth and the sadness of life. I don't even know what's it's about --- it's always hard to tell what the writer's intent is, but it has helped me feel the world in a deeper way."

"Powderfinger" (from the 1979 album "Rust Never Sleeps"): "This is just such a great story. Reminds me of the best of Flannery O'Connor."

"A Man Needs a Maid" (from 1972's "Harvest"): "Some of my friends think this song is sexist, but somehow I feel it in some broader genderless context, just a beautiful way to say "I'm tired ..."
